Photography in its earliest form was practiced by old school artists in the form of a camera obscura. They would construct a building with a pin hole facing the direction of the scene they wanted to copy, enter the building and attach a sheet of canvas or other medium to the wall opposite the pin hole then trace the image onto the media.
Today we use the latest digital cameras with high powered portable light sources to instantly capture a perfect color image of the scene then faithfully reproduce this image on canvas, paper, and many other surfaces. Thus producing a lasting reminder of the scene we once viewed.
